Helvetinjärvi National Park

Established in 1982, Helvetinjärvi National Park is located in the municipality of Ruovesi and covers an area of 49.8 square kilometers. The park is characterized by millions-of-years-old gorge valleys, which give the primeval forest a rugged and wild character.
The most famous of the area’s several gorges is Helvetinkolu, located in the southeastern corner of Lake Helvetinjärvi. It has been a renowned tourist attraction since the 19th century.

Juupajoki Gorge / Koskenjalka Shoe Museum

The Juupajoki Gorge is a nature reserve of approximately 30 hectares. Shaped by the Ice Age, it is a pristine, up to 30-meter-deep gorge valley with a river flowing along its bottom.
The area features three nature trails that allow visitors to explore the gorge’s unique ecosystem. The Shoe Museum is located in Finland’s first industrial shoe factory, which began operations in 1879. Today, it operates as a museum and art gallery during the summer.

Siikaneva Nature Reserve

Siikaneva is the largest contiguous mire area in the Pirkanmaa region and its most important bog conservation site. The majority of the area is a state-owned mire protection area or a private nature reserve.
Siikaneva is an excellent day-trip destination during the snow-free season. You can admire its diverse nature and landscapes along trails that are mostly equipped with duckboards.
